Configure Bone Layout on Linux
Use as separate language layout
Ubuntu Gnome:
- Activate additional input sources:
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.input-sources show-all-sources true
- Go to “Settings” -> “Keyboard” -> Add Input Source -> Search for “Bone” -> Click “German” followed by “German (Bone)”
- Insert the following section into
/usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/evdev.xml
:<variant> <configItem> <name> </name> <description>German (Bone)</description> </configItem> </variant>
Temporary use on another persons’s computer
To temporarily activate the Bone-Layout on a machine, run:
setxkbmap de bone -option
The the default language will become active again after logout, or by changing back to a different layout, e.g. with:
setxkbmap de
